Spring Lake Girls Cross Country Concludes Season at State Finals with Solid Team Effort The Spring Lake girls cross country team wrapped up a successful season with a 16th-place finish out of 28 schools at the MHSAA Division 2 State Finals. Competing on the final day of the season while most other teams had already finished, the Lakers showed grit and determination throughout the challenging course. Senior Alexis Kotkowicz led the team with a 35th-place finish in 18:49.5, followed by sophomore Kaleigh Clark in 84th place at 19:50.3. Junior Cora Parker finished 147th in 20:29.8, and freshman Matia Battjes crossed the line 152nd in 20:34.3. Freshman Charly Braidwood (166th, 20:50.3) and sophomore Briella Kohley (181st, 21:10.4) provided additional depth, and freshman Hazel Cherney (240th, 22:29.2) rounded out the team’s seven runners. While no Lakers earned all-state honors this year, the team’s perseverance and commitment were clear. Finishing 16th in the state capped off a season that included a regional runner-up finish and a seventh straight trip to the state finals, highlighting the program’s continued excellence and strong tradition.
