The JV Volleyball team attended the Ravenna Invitational on Saturday and went 4-0-1 and won 1st in the Gold Bracket. In pool play we beat Manistee (25-9, 25-6), beat Lundington (25-16, 25-21) and split with North Muskegon(19-25, 25-16). In the semi finals we beat Oakridge 2-1 with the scores of 18-25, 25-5, 15-3. In the finals, we had to play North Muskegon for a second time and we were victorious by beating them in 2 sets with the scores of 26-24, 25-17. All the girls did very well and contributed to our team wining 1st place. We were led offensively by six players with double digits kills for the day and impressive hitting percentages. Leading us in kills was Simer Baria (28 kills), Natalie VanLoo (21 kills), Calla Barber (18 kills), Melanie Goetzinger (13 kills), and Abbie Andree & Tessa Weber each with 11 kills. Sierra Lukas & Kristen Marine led us in service aces with 9 each. While Natalie and Melanie each also had 8 aces. Our defense was strong with Kristen Marine (career high 57 digs), Harper Bennett (32 digs), and Emma Canale (20 digs). Kellen Armey led us in assists with 47 and Sierra Lukas had 30 assists. As a team we had 20 blocks on the day. Tessa Weber led the team with 11 total blocks and Melanie Goetzinger had 8 total. Our overall record is now 16-11-2 and we are 4-3 in the OK Conference. We will return to play for our next conference match on Tuesday, October 7th at Zeeland West @ 5pm.
