Lakers Collect Two Sweeps at Home Quad The Spring Lake varsity volleyball team put together an impressive showing on Saturday, earning straight-set wins over Whitehall and Ludington before falling to a talented Plainwell squad in the finale of the Lakers’ home quad. Spring Lake opened the day in dominant fashion, sweeping Whitehall 25-10, 25-16, 25-9 with consistent execution on both sides of the ball. The Lakers carried that momentum into their second match, taking down Ludington 25-15, 25-14, 25-19 to secure back-to-back victories. In their third match, Spring Lake faced a tough test against Plainwell, a team powered by a fast-paced offense and strong hitters. The Lakers battled point for point but came up just short in three sets (16-25, 18-25, 21-25). Statistical leaders on the day included: Abbey Rogalski leading the attack with 24 kills and 2 blocks. Lauren Meigs delivering 19 kills and 3 aces. Brooke St. George adding 15 kills, 7 aces, and 27 digs in an all-around effort. Ashlynn O’Donnell and Rileigh Fortuna steering the offense with 39 and 32 assists, respectively. Zoe Winters anchoring the defense with 38 digs, supported by Selah Kobylak (16 digs, 3 aces). The coaching staff praised the Lakers for playing two complete matches against Whitehall and Ludington, noting the progress in consistency and execution. While Plainwell presented a challenging matchup, the team gained valuable experience defending a high-powered attack that will serve them well moving forward. Spring Lake (7-11-2, 1-4 OK-Blue) will return to action on Saturday, September 30, when they travel to Holland Christian for another competitive quad.
