Lakers Pick Up First Conference Victory at Holland The Spring Lake varsity volleyball team earned a hard-fought win on the road Tuesday night, defeating Holland in four sets (25-17, 23-25, 25-18, 25-23) to capture their first OK-Blue Conference victory of the season. The Lakers opened strong with a convincing first-set win and showed resilience after a narrow second-set loss, bouncing back to claim sets three and four and seal the match. The victory showcased Spring Lake’s ability to respond under pressure and finish close sets down the stretch. Several Lakers made key contributions in the balanced team effort: Abbey Rogalski powered the offense with 10 kills, while Brooke St. George added 9 kills and a team-high 26 digs. Lauren Meigs and Rileigh Fortuna chipped in 6 kills apiece, with Fortuna also recording 11 digs and a block. Ashlynn O’Donnell directed the attack with 19 assists and 3 aces, while Fortuna added 11 assists of her own. Zoe Winters anchored the defense with 13 digs, while Abbi Kozal and Peyton Hein each added a block at the net. The coaching staff acknowledged the win wasn’t always perfect but credited the Lakers for finding ways to make plays when it mattered most. The focus now shifts to building greater consistency to match the team’s flashes of high-level play. Spring Lake (4-9-2, 1-4 OK-Blue) will return home on Thursday, September 25, for a double dual against Fremont and Montague beginning at 5:00 p.m.
