Lakers Edge Whitehall in Competitive 5-3 Match The Spring Lake boys tennis team earned a hard-fought 5-3 victory over Whitehall on Thursday in a matchup filled with close battles across the courts. In singles play, the Lakers secured three important wins. At No. 1 singles, Ethan Brown set the pace with a steady 6-2, 6-3 victory. James Priddy controlled play at No. 3 singles before his opponent retired, and Isaac Schaal continued his strong start to the season with a 6-2, 6-3 win at No. 4 singles. Spring Lake needed two wins in doubles to clinch the match, and both came in exciting fashion. At No. 1 doubles, the pairing of Nate Pawlak and Matthew Truszkowski battled through a tense three-setter, ultimately prevailing 6-1, 6-7 (4), 10-5. The No. 4 duo of Joshua Ridlington and Jonah VanHoeven also came through in straight sets, earning a 6-2, 6-0 victory to secure the team win. The result highlighted the Lakers’ ability to stay composed in tight situations, as they picked up key points in both singles and doubles to come away with the overall victory.
