The Spring Lake Lakers completed a three game sweep of the Zeeland East Chix in heroic fashion with a 5-4 walk off victory! The Lakers managed only one hit through the first 5 innings before their comeback started in the bottom of the sixth inning trailing 4-0. To lead off the sixth inning, Spring Lake put together five straight hits to tie the game at 4-4. Jaden Core, Oliver Smies and Max Feltner singled to load the bases when Owen Smies hit a two run double to cut the deficit to 4-2. Alex Batka made the score 4-3 with an RBI single and with one out Maddux Kipling tied the game with an RBI groundout. After Oliver Smies got Zeeland East out 1-2-3 in the top of the seventh, set the table for the walk off win in the bottom of the seventh. With one out, Oliver Smies got a single to get things started, Mason Roll was inserted to run for Smies, Max Feltner reached on an error and then Owen Smies hit a base hit to left field and Roll beat the throw home for the 5-4 walk off win. Oliver Smies finished with 3 hits and twin brother Owen Smies had two hits and 3 RBI's. Reid Grimmer got the start on the mound getting out of some early jams and limited the damage before giving way to Oliver Smies in the sixth. Grimmer and Smies combined for 8 strikeouts.
