By GameChanger Media Khloe Siler collected three hits in four at bats, as Spring Lake Varsity Lakers defeated Zeeland East Varsity Chix 17-5 on Tuesday. Siler doubled in the fourth inning, singled in the third inning, and singled in the fifth inning. Spring Lake Varsity Lakers were the first to get on the board in the second when Cheyenne Lyons singled, scoring two runs. Zeeland East Varsity Chix tied the game in the bottom of the second thanks to a single by Drue Davis, and a fielder's choice by Oli Valenzuela. Spring Lake Varsity Lakers took the lead in the top of the third. Tessa Britt hit a sacrifice fly, scoring one run, to give Spring Lake Varsity Lakers the advantage, 3-2. Zeeland East Varsity Chix captured the lead, 4-3, in the bottom of the third after Emme Meyering homered to center field, and Mackenzie Ruimveld doubled down the right field line, each scoring one run. Spring Lake Varsity Lakers flipped the game on its head in the top of the fourth, scoring seven runs on six hits to take the lead, 10-4. The biggest blow in the inning was an error that drove in two. Ava Twa earned the win for Spring Lake Varsity Lakers. The starter surrendered seven hits and five runs (four earned) over six innings, striking out six and walking none. Meyering took the loss for Zeeland East Varsity Chix. The reliever went two and one-third innings, giving up seven runs (five earned) on four hits, striking out one and walking six. Leah Keur started the game for Zeeland East Varsity Chix. The starting pitcher gave up nine hits and 10 runs (three earned) over three and two-thirds innings, striking out none and walking one. Spring Lake Varsity Lakers piled up 13 hits in the game. Britt drove the middle of the lineup, leading Spring Lake Varsity Lakers with five runs batted in. The shortstop went 1-for-3 on the day. Siler and Raelyn Stratton each collected three hits for Spring Lake Varsity Lakers. Lyons collected two hits for Spring Lake Varsity Lakers in three at bats. Spring Lake Varsity Lakers had a strong eye at the plate, piling up seven walks for the game. Abby Lau and Twa led the team with two walks each. Lau stole two bases. Spring Lake Varsity Lakers stole five bases in the game. Ruimveld led Zeeland East Varsity Chix with three hits in three at bats.
