On day two of the Grand Haven Lake Michigan Cup Christmas Tournament, the Spring Lake Lakers defeated the Petoskey Northmen 64-63 in overtime. A close game throughout, the Lakers trailed by three points late when Spring Lake junior Ayden Ayers made a game tying three point shot with under 20 seconds remaining to tie the game. After a Petoskey missed shot at the buzzer we headed to overtime. Spring Lake outscored the Northmen 4-3 in overtime to secure their second win in as many days. Reid Grimmer scored 22 points and hauled in 6 rebounds to pace the Spring Lake offense. Jaden Core followed with 17 points, 5 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 steals, while Ayden Ayers finished with 15 points. Laker big men, Max Feltner and Maddux Kipling finished with 8 and 6 rebounds respectively. With a 2-0 tournament record, Spring Lake shared the championship with Grand Haven who also went undefeated. Laker seniors Reid Grimmer and Jaden Core were named to the All-Tournament Team.
