The Fruitport Trojans snapped a 9 year 16 game losing streak to the Spring Lake Lakers on their home court 46-43. A close game throughout, the Trojans led by 9 points at the end of the third quarter. That lead would grow to 10 points with about 7 minutes to play before the Lakers' pressure helped mount a furious comeback cutting the lead to one point with 4 minutes to play. Physical play, good defense and a few misses by both teams kept the game close until the final seconds. Spring Lake split a pair of free throws with 7 seconds left to cut the Fruitport lead to 44-43. Day Day Williams made two free throws with 5 seconds remaining to seal the 46-43 win. "That was a great High School atmosphere to play in and a good High School game. Every athlete should want to play in that type of game. Hats off to Coach Erny, his staff and their team for a well deserved win! We will be OK. We will bounce back and be better because of games like this. In 2015 when we last lost to Fruitport, we went to the State Quarterfinal's! Who Knows......😀 Reid Grimmer led the Spring Lake offense with 19 points while Jaden Core added 10 points and had team highs with 8 rebounds and 4 assists.
