The Spring Lake Lakers opened the 2024-25 season with a thrilling 69-61 double overtime victory over the visiting Ludington Orioles. A close game throughout.... was tied 39-39 at the end of the third quarter, tied 56-56 at the end of regulation then Ludington took a 60-57 lead after two made free throws with 10 seconds left in the first overtime when Spring Lake senior Jaden Core knocked down a contested three pointer to send the game into a second overtime and send the Spring Lake student section into a frenzy! Spring Lake used that momentum to out score the Orioles 9-1 in the second overtime for the 69-61 win. Reid Grimmer led the Laker offense with 25 points and 9 rebounds while Core added 23 points 6 rebounds, 4 steals and 4 assists. Maddux Kipling chipped in with 8 points and 6 rebounds. Taj Williams led the Orioles with 21 points.
