The Spring Lake varsity volleyball team fought hard but saw its season come to an end in the District 37 semifinals with a four-set loss to Montague, 20-25, 26-24, 25-20, 25-18. The Lakers finish with an overall record of 10-21. Katherine Penning led the Lakers’ offense with 14 kills, while Brianna Kirby and Brooke St. George added 12 kills each, helping Spring Lake battle for every point. Peyton Hein and Audrey Marine shared the playmaking, delivering 23 and 19 assists, respectively, while Lauren Nicles was stellar on defense with 31 digs. Penning and Madeline Meigs also provided solid back-row support with 15 and 14 digs apiece. Reflecting on the season, the team can be proud of their growth and resilience, giving it their all to the very last point.
