The Spring Lake varsity volleyball team secured a straight-set victory over Oakridge, winning 25-20, 25-22, 25-22 in the District 37 quarterfinals. This victory advances the Lakers to an overall record of 10-20. Defensively, Lauren Nicles anchored the team with 16 digs, supported by Penning’s 14 digs and Madeline Meigs’ 7. The coach praised the team’s resilience, noting, “We put together three pretty decent sets against a much-improved Oakridge team. We got ourselves in a couple of ruts but managed to pull out the set victories. Oakridge played some very tough defense on our attacks, but we stayed the course and pulled out the win." Spring Lake will face Montague in the district semifinals on Thursday, November 7, at 7:00 p.m. at Orchard View.
