Laker volleyball lets early lead slip against Hamilton

The Spring Lake varsity volleyball team fought hard but fell in straight sets to Hamilton: 25-23, 25-20, 25-13. The loss moves the Lakers to 8-20 overall and 3-8 in conference play. Katherine Penning led Spring Lake with 7 kills, supported by Brianna Kirby with 6. Brooke St. George added 5 aces to keep Hamilton out of system, while Audrey Marine distributed 16 assists. Defensively, Lauren Nicles led with 9 digs, with Penning and Marine contributing 5 each. The Lakers initially surged with 7-point leads in both the first and second sets. "Service kept them out of system, but we could not sustain the lead," the coach noted. Spring Lake will look to regroup for their next home match against Zeeland West on Wednesday, October 30, at 6:00 p.m.
