The Spring Lake varsity volleyball team put up a strong fight against a tough Holland Christian squad, but ultimately fell in four sets: 25-9, 19-25, 25-15, 25-23. Despite the loss, the Lakers showed resilience, bringing their overall record to 8-19 and 3-8 in conference play. Katherine Penning led Spring Lake with 12 kills and 11 digs, while Aliya Williams added 7 kills and 3 blocks. Peyton Hein recorded 14 assists, with Audrey Marine contributing 10 assists and 9 digs. Defensively, Lauren Nicles tallied 10 digs to support the back row. "Once we settled down and started to play our game, we were competitive with Holland Christian," said the coach. "We took the second set and came close in the fourth. They are a very good hitting team, but once we kept them out of system, we could score." The Lakers will look to bounce back on Tuesday, October 28, when they host Hamilton at 6:00 p.m. for Teacher Appreciation Night.
