Spring Lake boys tennis ties for second place at conference tournament

The Spring Lake varsity boys tennis team had a strong showing at the conference tournament, tying for second place with 13 points alongside Hudsonville Unity Christian and Zeeland East. Holland Christian took the top spot with 17 points, while Zeeland West finished with 11 points, Holland with 8, and Hamilton with 5. Spring Lake’s key performers included Hudson Braak, who claimed victories in the No. 1 singles flight against Zeeland West and Holland. Braak dominated Zeeland West’s Luke Kaynor with an 8-0 win and battled for an 8-6 victory over Floyd Webb from Holland. Veer Patel was also impressive at No. 2 singles, defeating opponents from Holland and Hamilton in straight sets, but falling in a tough match against Holland Christian. In doubles action, the No. 1 pairing of Owen Malaski and Kody Vis secured wins over Zeeland East and Hamilton in competitive matches, including an 8-6 win against Zeeland East’s team. Hale Phillips and Drew Nash, playing at No. 2 doubles, also contributed to the team’s success, with a hard-fought win over Zeeland West. The No. 3 doubles team of Eddie and Ethan Brown came out victorious in their matches against Holland and Zeeland East, delivering strong performances to support Spring Lake’s overall score. Meanwhile, the No. 4 doubles duo of Weston Carpenter and James Priddy continued their solid play, securing wins against Zeeland West and Hamilton. With their second-place tie in the tournament, Spring Lake showcased depth across all flights, and they will look to carry that momentum into the rest of their season.
