Spring Lake volleyball falls to Unity Christian, 0-3

The Spring Lake girls varsity volleyball team faced a tough opponent in Hudsonville Unity Christian, losing in straight sets 25-16, 25-13, 25-6. Despite the loss, several Lakers put up solid individual performances, demonstrating determination and effort throughout the match. Katherine Penning led Spring Lake with six kills, while Aliya Williams added four. Lauren and Madeline Meigs chipped in with two kills each. Williams and Lauren Nicles each contributed an ace. Setter Peyton Hein was a key playmaker for the Lakers, tallying nine assists, while Audrey Marine added four. On defense, Lauren Nicles anchored the back row with 11 digs, followed by Penning with six, and both Hein and Madeline Meigs with five digs each. At the net, Lauren Meigs led the blocking efforts with three total blocks. Abbey Rogalski, Aliya Williams, and Brianna Kirby each added a block as well. Spring Lake’s overall record now stands at 6-16, with a 2-6 mark in conference play. The Lakers will look to bounce back in their next match, a double duel on Thursday, October 10, against Whitehall and Coopersville, starting at 5:00 PM.
