Spring Lake finishes 6th at D3 Invitational

The Spring Lake girls swim team had a strong showing at the highly competitive Division 3 Invitational, securing a 6th place overall finish against some of the top teams in the state. The Lakers showcased both talent and determination, with multiple swimmers achieving personal bests (PB) across various events. Hannah Brown led the charge, clocking a personal best of 54.89 in the 100-yard freestyle, earning a well-deserved 3rd place. Brown also claimed the top spot in the 50-yard freestyle with a remarkable time of 24.89, setting the tone for a competitive meet. Sophia Meyers also delivered outstanding performances, placing 5th in the 200-yard freestyle with a personal best time of 2:06.0. Meyers added to her success by setting another PB in the 500-yard freestyle, finishing 11th in 5:48.1. In the 100-yard breaststroke, both Abigail Weis and Bella Vandermeer hit personal milestones, with Weis finishing 16th in 1:19.8 and Vandermeer finishing 28th in 1:24.6. Charlotte Van Harken recorded a personal best in the 100-yard freestyle, finishing 23rd in 1:04.2, while Macy Subka also reached a new PB in the 50-yard freestyle, securing 10th place with a time of 26.92. Eleanor Nelson shined in the 50-yard backstroke, setting a personal best of 32.81, and Rachael Brower delivered a strong performance in the 200-yard freestyle, finishing 18th in 2:13.7, a new PB for her as well. In relay action, Spring Lake’s 200-yard freestyle relay team secured an impressive 3rd place with a time of 1:44.2, while the 400-yard freestyle relay team matched that finish, clocking in at 3:51.4. The 200-yard medley relay team rounded out the Lakers’ top relay finishes, placing 6th with a time of 1:59.6. The Lakers showed both depth and growth, as evidenced by the number of personal bests achieved, reflecting the hard work and determination of the team as they continue to progress this season.
