Boys cross country competes in ELITE division at Shepherd Invitational

The Spring Lake boys cross country team competed in the highly competitive Elite Boys division at the Shepherd Blue Jay Invitational, finishing 26th out of 36 schools. Senior Parker Woodwyk led the way for the Lakers, achieving a personal record of 16:36.35 to finish 62nd overall in a field packed with top talent. Junior Lukus Mendoza followed, posting a season-best time of 17:14.12 to claim 113th place, while senior Nathan Koches also hit a season record, crossing the line at 17:20.53 for 131st. Rounding out the top five were seniors Christopher Locke and sophomore Owen Adams. Locke set a personal record of 17:31.58 to take 155th, while Adams finished 170th with a season-best 17:44.29. Senior Isaac Primm (18:18.46) and freshman Isaac Vandlen (18:26.06) also contributed to the team’s overall effort, with Primm setting a personal record. In a challenging and deep field, the Lakers demonstrated improvement and resilience, setting several personal and season records. In the junior varsity race at the Shepherd Blue Jay Invitational, several Spring Lake runners posted strong performances, including multiple personal and season records. Freshman Griffin Wenta led the charge with a personal record of 18:36.36, finishing 68th overall. Juniors Jayden Quist and Cameron Braidwood followed closely, both setting personal records as well, with Quist finishing at 18:48.50 and Braidwood at 19:00.89. Freshman Liam Tiles crossed the line at 19:20.42, while junior Levi Vanderlaan recorded a season-best time of 19:28.38. Sophomore Greysen Miltgen also set a season record, finishing at 19:41.16, with senior Jack Pummill (19:49.55) and junior Leo Hall (20:07.24) achieving similar milestones. Freshman Ryder Woodwyk and senior Garrett Abel completed the Spring Lake lineup with times of 21:24.39 and 21:28.89, respectively, showcasing the depth and potential of the team.
