Spring Lake Girls Swim Team Takes Third at Allegan Invitational

The Spring Lake Lakers swim team delivered a strong performance at the Allegan Invitational, finishing third overall amidst a highly competitive field. The Lakers were led by a series of outstanding individual efforts, including several first-place finishes and personal records. Among the standout swimmers was Hannah Brown, who claimed first place in the 100-yard Freestyle with a time of 56.51 and added a fifth-place finish in the 200 IM. Ellie Adams continued her impressive season, earning victories in both the 200-yard IM (2:19.5) and the 100-yard Butterfly (1:03.4), while also setting a personal best in the 100-yard Freestyle (57.94). Sadie Vander Heide secured the top spot in the 100-yard Breaststroke with a time of 1:13.6, and Sophia Meyers grabbed first in the 200-yard Freestyle (2:07.3), as well as third in the 500-yard Freestyle (5:52.1). Personal bests were a major theme for the Lakers throughout the invitational. Alex Botbyl swam a personal best in the 50-yard Freestyle (27.6), while Eleanor Nelson set new marks in the 50-yard Freestyle (28.57) and 100-yard Backstroke (1:15.1). Alana Mazurek posted a personal best in the 50-yard Backstroke (31.47), and Rachael Brower recorded a personal best in the 50-yard Backstroke (33.77). The Lakers also saw Charlotte Van Harken (100-yard Freestyle, 1:07.5), Grace Appold (50-yard Freestyle, 39.52), and Raegan Yanke (50-yard Backstroke, 40) achieve new personal records. The depth of the Spring Lake team was on full display, with strong performances across multiple events. Callie Rantanen placed seventh in the 50-yard Freestyle (29.31), and Bella Vandermeer finished 10th in the 500-yard Freestyle (6:40.3). Freshman Adela Maloney also made a notable contribution, taking 12th in the 100-yard Freestyle with a time of 1:08.6. As the season progresses, the Lakers' consistent improvement and individual achievements provide a solid foundation for future competitions. With a mix of veteran leadership and rising talent, the team is positioned for continued success in the pool.
