Laker volleyball fights hard in loss to Hawkeyes

In a hard-fought match, the Spring Lake varsity volleyball team showed significant improvement despite falling to Hamilton in four sets, 21-25, 25-16, 25-16, and 25-16. The loss brings the Lakers to 3-12 overall and 1-4 in conference play, but the team’s performance was one of its strongest of the season, particularly on the offensive side, with a season-high number of kills. Aliya Williams and Madeline Meigs each tallied 9 kills, demonstrating the Lakers’ growing offensive cohesion. Audrey Marine, stepping in as setter due to injuries and illness, excelled with 29 assists, keeping the offense organized and competitive throughout the match. Lauren Nicles also delivered a season-high 24 digs, anchoring the defense and showing great resilience. Despite the outcome, Spring Lake played with unity and determination, a performance that reflects their growth. They’ll look to carry this momentum into their next match on Thursday, September 26, when they host Fremont and Ludington in a double duel at 5:00 p.m.
