Lakers volleyball falls to #10 ranked Holland Christian

The Spring Lake varsity girls’ volleyball team fell to the 10th-ranked Holland Christian squad in three sets, 25-22, 25-9, and 25-16, dropping their record to 3-11 overall and 1-3 in conference play. Despite a competitive first set, the Lakers struggled to maintain momentum, hampered by 35 unforced errors that allowed Holland Christian to pull away. Katherine Penning led Spring Lake’s offense with 6 kills, while Brianna Kirby added 5. Peyton Hein contributed 18 assists and 2 aces, while Lauren Nicles delivered a standout defensive performance with 14 digs, making several crucial plays against hard-hit balls. Head coach noted that while the team competed well early, they struggled with consistency as the match progressed. The Lakers look to bounce back in their next match on Tuesday, September 24, when they travel to face Hamilton High School at 6:00 p.m.
