Girls cross country finds hard earned fourth place at first league jamboree

The Spring Lake girls cross country team earned a solid fourth-place finish at the first OK Black Division jamboree of the season, held at Unity Christian. Junior Alexis Kotkowicz led the Lakers with an 11th-place finish, clocking in at 20:52.65. Seniors Lexie Ruffing and Bethany Zimmerman both placed in the top 20, with Ruffing finishing 19th at 21:43.36 and Zimmerman just behind in 20th with a time of 21:45.08. Junior Meghan Guczwa added a 25th-place finish with a time of 22:15.68, while senior Kaitlyn Zonca rounded out the team’s top five, finishing 33rd at 22:37.01. Freshman Briella Kohley (22:43.74) and sophomore Shannon Losee (23:28.67) also contributed to the team’s performance, while juniors Samantha Conley and Avery Kuhlman, along with freshman Madeline Vink, helped round out the team’s efforts. With a mix of upperclassmen leadership and emerging underclassmen talent, the Lakers showcased their depth and determination, finishing just outside the top three. The team looks poised to continue building on this strong showing as they progress through the season.
