The Spring Lake boys varsity tennis team had a busy Saturday, playing three matches and finishing with a win, a tie, and a loss. They started the day with a hard-fought 4-4 tie against Ada Forest Hills Eastern, where the singles lineup delivered a clean sweep. Hudson Braak led the charge with a 6-1, 6-4 victory, followed by Veer Patel's 6-3, 6-1 win at No. 2 singles. Nate Pawlak bounced back from a tough first set to secure a 0-6, 6-0, 1-0 (6) victory, and Alex Dull finished with a strong 6-3, 6-1 win at No. 4 singles. Despite the doubles teams battling hard, Spring Lake couldn’t clinch a victory in any of the four doubles matches, resulting in the overall tie. In their second match, Spring Lake dominated Sparta, winning 8-0. The singles players maintained their impressive form, with Braak narrowly taking his match 6-2, 4-6, 10-8, and Patel, Pawlak, and Dull all winning in straight sets. The doubles teams showed their strength as well, with Kody Vis and Owen Malaski winning 6-4, 6-2 at No. 1 doubles, and all four pairs securing victories to sweep the match. However, the final match of the day saw Spring Lake fall 8-1 to Grand Haven. Alex Dull earned the team’s lone point with a thrilling 7-6 (1), 4-6, 13-11 win at No. 4 singles. Despite strong efforts from the rest of the squad, Grand Haven proved too strong across both singles and doubles.
