Boys Tennis takes down the Dux, 5-3

The Spring Lake boys varsity tennis team earned a solid 5-3 victory over Zeeland West in a competitive matchup. In singles play, Hudson Braak led the charge for Spring Lake with a 7-5, 6-2 win over Luke Kaynor at No. 1 singles. Veer Patel added another point for Spring Lake at No. 2 singles, rallying to defeat Mikey Fuller in three sets, 2-6, 6-2, 6-3. Alex Dull delivered a straight-set win at No. 4 singles, topping Levi Kaynor 6-3, 6-4. Despite Xander Engelsman defeating Nate Pawlak at No. 3 singles, 6-1, 6-4, Spring Lake emerged with a strong singles performance overall. In doubles play, the No. 1 pairing of Kody Vis and Owen Malaski secured a crucial win for Spring Lake, defeating Dom Szczerowski and Quinn Willette, 6-4, 4-6, 6-3. Drew Nash and Hale Phillips fought back at No. 2 doubles, overcoming a first-set loss to beat Bryce VanWort and Brady Smith, 2-6, 6-0, 7-5. Zeeland West claimed victories in the No. 3 and No. 4 doubles matches, with Liam DeHaan and Carter Meeuwsen edging out Spring Lake’s Ethan and Eddie Brown in a close 6-7 (6), 6-4, 7-6 (5) battle, while Trey Meeuwsen and Caleb Levandoski topped Weston Carpenter and James Priddy, 6-4, 6-3. The overall team effort gave Spring Lake the edge in this well-fought contest.
