Laker Tennis wins, loses, and draws all in a single day

The Spring Lake boys varsity tennis team had a busy series of matches, securing a 5-3 victory over Mason, tying Big Rapids 4-4, and falling 0-9 to Rockford. Against Mason, strong singles performances by Hudson Braak and Veer Patel set the tone, with Braak cruising to a 6-1, 6-1 win and Patel following with a 6-1, 6-4 victory. Alex Dull pulled out a dramatic win at No. 4 singles, defeating Lucas Latimer in a third-set tiebreaker, 7-5, 2-6, 13-11. In doubles action, Kody Vis and Owen Malaski won their match at No. 1 doubles, 7-5, 6-3, while Drew Nash and Hale Phillips claimed an epic No. 2 doubles win, 6-7 (4), 7-6 (2), 17-15, sealing the team victory. The team’s matchup against Big Rapids resulted in a 4-4 tie, with Veer Patel and Alex Dull again proving to be key contributors. Patel defeated Ari Ziska 6-1, 6-3 at No. 2 singles, while Dull battled back for a hard-fought 2-6, 6-3, 10-8 victory at No. 4 singles. In doubles, Vis and Malaski claimed another close win, overcoming Big Rapids’ No. 1 pair in two tiebreakers, 7-6 (4), 7-6 (4). However, Spring Lake struggled against Rockford, suffering a 0-9 loss, as Rockford swept all singles and doubles matches. Despite their best efforts, Spring Lake was unable to break through against a dominant Rockford lineup, which controlled the match from start to finish.
