In their home opener, the Spring Lake High School girls' varsity volleyball team fell to the Unity Christian Crusaders in a hard-fought four-set match, marking the start of their league play. Unity Christian took the match with scores of 23-25, 25-21, 23-25, and 10-25. Despite a close contest in three of the four sets, Spring Lake struggled to maintain momentum in the final set. The loss drops the Lakers to an overall record of 2-7 and 0-1 in conference play. Katherine Penning and Madeline Meigs led the Lakers offensively, each recording 8 kills. The Lakers look to bounce back in their next match on September 10, when they will host a double duel against Fruitport and Reeths Puffer at 5:00 p.m.
