Spring Lake girls swim/dive defeats largest school in Michigan, battles another

In a thrilling meet, the Spring Lake High School girls swimming and diving team earned a solid 107-77 victory over East Kentwood but faced a narrow 82-102 defeat against Traverse City West. Junior Ellie Adams led the team with a standout performance, winning the 200 Free. Her teammates also shone brightly, as Rachael Brower, Callie Rantanen, and Karley Cough all achieved personal bests, demonstrating the team's depth and dedication. In the 50 Free, Junior Sophia Meyers secured a win while Alexandra Botbyle finished as the runner-up. Calleigh Fogel added to the team's success with a season-best time in the event. Senior Hannah Brown delivered an exceptional performance in the 500 Free, winning with a personal best and achieving a Division 3 qualifying time. Additionally, Raegan Yanke swam a season-best time in the 100 Backstroke. Despite the close loss to Traverse City West, the meet highlighted the Lakers' impressive individual achievements and strong team performance, setting a positive tone for the remainder of the season.
