Junior Varsity vs COOPERSVILLE HIGH SCHOOL (2 - 2 -1) The JV volleyball team attended the Coopersville Invitational today and went 2-2-1 on the day. In pool play we lost to Byron Center 19-25, 15-25, split with Northview 18-25, 25-22, and won against Saranac 25-9, 25-16. We came out 3rd in our pool and went into the consolation bracket play and won in 2 sets against Reeths Puffer (25-15, 25-17). We then lost in the finals against Covenant Christian in 3 sets (25-19, 16-25, 13-15). We had an exciting and long day in the gym for our first matches of the season. Everyone was able to help contribute to our successful day of play. Leading us in three stat categories was Amelia Arnold with 34 kills, 31 digs and 10 service aces. Nora Stahl had 13 kills, while Madalynn Hartman and Autumn Wahlberg each had 10 kills each. Autumn also led the team in blocks with 5. Defensively we were led by Sage Horton (25 digs), Kelsey Cohoon (22 digs) and Summer Schafer (21 digs). Leading us in assists was Ashlynn O'Donnell with 57 assists and Mari Nienhouse had 12 assists. Our next matches will be held on Thursday, August 29th at the "Battle on the Boardwalk" on the Grand Haven Waterfront Stadium at 1:30 pm.
