The Spring Lake Lakers defeated the visiting Hamilton Hawkeyes 5-3 today. The Lakers got on the scoreboard with three runs in the bottom of the first inning and held the lead for the entire game. Gabe Trask doubled and scored on an Oliver Smies double who scored on a Zane Stahl double and Hayden Roll running for Stahl then scored on a throwing error. After Hamilton cut the Spring Lake lead to 4-3 in the bottom of the fifth inning, Trask singled with two outs, stole second and scored on a Jaden Core single. Will May closed out the scoring with a solo homerun in the bottom of the sixth. Zane Stahl (6-2) was the winning pitcher, striking out 8 in six innings of work. Oliver Smies picked up the save.
