By Rich Hyde | Mar 13, 2024 10:12 PM

Spring Lake's season came to an end with a 36-48 loss to the #2 ranked West Catholic Falcons in the Regional Final. After the Falcons raced out to a 20-9 lead in the first quarter, the Lakers battled back with a 10-0 run to start the second and cut the lead to 20-19 before West Catholic took a 28-23 lead into halftime. West Catholic took a slight advantage in the 3rd to have a 41-32 lead heading into the 4th quarter. The Lakers valiant effort came to an end while they struggled to score in that final quarter as the game slowly came to the final margin of 48-36 in favor of the Falcons. The Lakers were led by Ella Andree's 14 points. Ellie Wrona added 8 points, Tessa Britt had 6 points, and Alexa Carter chipped in 4 points. Nia Theune and Brianna Kirby each added a basket. The Lakers finish the season 18-7 overall - the fifth team in school history to earn 18 or more wins in a season. They finished 3rd Place in the OK Blue Conference at 9-5, and earned the 7th District Championship in program history. The Lakers say goodbye to a stellar group of Seniors - Ella Andree, Brooke Bolthouse, Alexa Carter, Anna Hyde, and Clara Saunders. These girls led this year's team to the first Regional Finals game in school history. They have been together since elementary school, and they should be proud of everything they have accomplished together over the years. They will be sorely missed in our program, but they have set a high standard for all future Lakers to look up to. SL 9 14 9 4 = 36 WC 20 8 13 7 = 48
