**Lakers Deliver Standout Team Effort at Prestigious Portage Invitational** The Spring Lake boys cross country team proved its mettle on the statewide stage on Saturday, placing 9th out of 44 schools in the Division 2 race at the renowned Portage Invitational. Competing in a massive field against many of Michigan's top-ranked programs, the Lakers posted a total of 349 points to earn a hard-fought top-10 team finish, narrowly beating out St. Joseph (351) and placing ahead of 35 other programs. Spring Lake's performance was defined by team cohesion and disciplined race-plan execution across the course. Senior leadership established a strong presence at the front of the race, while tight spacing through the middle scoring positions proved crucial in the final standings. Highlighting the team's pack execution, junior duo Isaac Vandlen and Fhoenix Stellard crossed the finish line almost simultaneously—separated by just two-tenths of a second—to secure vital scoring points. Supported by key displacement running across the entire varsity lineup, the Lakers showed that team depth remains their primary engine as the postseason approaches. **Spring Lake Individual Results** * **Owen Adams** (Sr.) – 16:22.0 (26th) * **Ryder Woodwyk** (Sr.) – 16:58.0 (56th) * **Dane Trask** (So.) – 17:10.1 (67th) * **Isaac Vandlen** (Jr.) – 17:40.7 (104th) * **Fhoenix Stellard** (Jr.) – 17:40.9 (106th) * **Drew Trask** (So.) – 18:59.6 (191st) * **Malcolm Oosting-Sineath** (Fr.) – 19:15.8 (200th) **Division 2 Team Standings (Top 10)** | Rank | School | Score | | --- | --- | --- | | 1 | Holland Christian | 97 | | 2 | Pinckney | 162 | | 3 | Lexington | 172 | | 4 | East Grand Rapids | 185 | | 5 | Parma Western | 194 | | 6 | GR Christian | 241 | | 7 | Vicksburg | 338 | | 8 | Chelsea | 339 | | 9 | **Spring Lake** | **349** | | 10 | St. Joseph | 351 |
