Lakers Battle Tight Field in First League Meet of the Season The Spring Lake boys cross country team kicked off conference competition in the first of three league meets, earning a 5th-place finish with 112 points. The Lakers found themselves right in the thick of a fiercely competitive middle pack, finishing just seven points behind third-place Hudsonville Unity Christian (105) and five points back of fourth-place Zeeland East (107). Holland Christian took top team honors with 27 points. Senior Ryder Woodwyk led the way for Spring Lake, earning a top-15 finish by crossing the line in 17:46.2 to place 15th overall. Junior Isaac Vandlen (21st, 17:51.1) and sophomore Dane Trask (22nd, 17:51.9) provided strong top-end support, running nearly shoulder-to-shoulder to finish less than a second apart. Junior Fhoenix Stellard (31st, 18:29.2) and sophomore Drew Trask (33rd, 18:42.0) closed out the scoring five, with sophomore Peter Conley right behind in 36th (18:47.3).
