Lakers Secure Podium Finish at Season-Opening Warrior Invite The Spring Lake boys cross country team opened the 2026 season on a high note, earning a third-place team finish at the Early Season Warrior Invite at Chippewa Hills. Competing in a deep 13-team field, the Lakers tallied 93 points to claim a spot on the podium. Senior Ryder Woodwyk paced the Lakers, crossing the line in 13th overall with a team-leading time of 18:07.16. Spring Lake displayed impressive pack running at the front, with sophomore Dane Trask (15th, 18:18.04), junior Isaac Vandlen (17th, 18:26.54), and junior Fhoenix Stellard (18th, 18:29.55 - PB) finishing within 22 seconds of each other. Sophomore Peter Conley rounded out the top five scoring runners in 30th place (19:18.73), securing a narrow two-point victory over fourth-place Reed City. The opening meet also highlighted strong depth and promising debuts from the team's youngest runners, as five freshmen set personal bests in their high school cross country debut.
