The Spring Lake Lakers season came to an end with a tough 2-1 loss to the Sparta Spartans in Regional action. Sparta opened the scoring with two walks, a hit batsman and an infield single to take 1-0 lead. The Spartans got an insurance run in the top of the 6th with a suicide squeeze bunt extending their lead to 2-0. The Lakers got on the scoreboard in the bottom of the 6th inning after an Oliver Smies double and two wild pitches, unfortunately that would be the only run the Lakers would score. Noah Sanders singled and advanced to second base with a stolen base with one out in the bottom of the 7th, but Spring Lake could not get him home. Oliver Smies reached base all three times with two doubles and a walk, while Max Feltner reached twice with a single and a walk. Noah Sanders and Maddux Kipling each singled for the Lakers. "Give the Sparta pitchers and defense some credit as they held us to only one run today. We are averaging around 7or 8 runs a game and have only scored less than three runs three times this year, unfortunately today was one of those times. We never really could get our offense going."
