The Spring Lake Lakers took game one of the OK Black Doubleheader with a 4-1 win at league leading Unity Christian. Trailing 1-0 in the third inning, Oliver Smies singled, scored on an Owen Smies triple and then a Max Feltner single drove in Owen Smies. The Lakers got two insurance runs in the top of the 7th when Max Feltner had an RBI double and scored on a throwing error. Oliver Smies and Feltner each finished with two hits. Maddux Kipling got the complete game victory allowing 4 hits and striking out 5. Spring Lake completed the doubleheader sweep with a 5-4 win in the night cap. With the Lakers trailing 4-2 in the 4th inning, Jace Sanderlin lined a solo homerun over the left field fence for a game changing, momentum changing homerun! Later in the inning an Owen Smies single tied the game at 4-4. Maddux Kipling drove in the winning run with an RBI sacrifice fly in the 6th. Oliver Smies was the winning pitcher and Peter May got the save when he came in relief and got the final out with the tying run on second base with a strikeout to end the game. Oliver and Owen Smies both had two hits.
