Varsity vs COOPERSVILLE HIGH SCHOOL (32 - 31) Win Spring Lake Lakers earned a gritty 32-31 win over Coopersville Thursday night to end their regular season schedule. It was a tough shooting night for the Lakers, who struggled to find the bottom of the net early. Credit to Coopersville for coming out strong and playing a tough 2-3 zone the entire game. The Lakers started the first quarter flat and Coopersville took advantage of that with a 13-4 lead after the first frame. The Lakers rebounded in the second and took the lead going into halftime. The second half remained a low scoring battle, with both teams grinding through every possession. Down the stretch, Spring Lake came up with clutch buckets and showed composure at the free throw line, finishing 9-14 on the night - a key difference in a one-point game. Leading the way was Alex Botbyl 12 points, Addy Harris with 9, and Lexi Baker with 5 points. It wasn't the prettiest win, but it was a resilient one. The Lakers are now prepping for playoffs, their next game will be Wednesday at 5:30 at Orchard View High School vs the winner of Montague/OV.
