Spring Lake Wrestling Takes Second at 17-Team Tournament

The Spring Lake wrestling team delivered an impressive performance this past weekend, finishing second overall at a 17-school tournament with a team score of 215 points. The Lakers were paced by a strong effort across multiple weight classes, placing just behind tournament champion Mt. Pleasant (275 points) and ahead of third-place Big Rapids (196.5 points). Spring Lake’s depth and consistency throughout the day played a key role in the runner-up finish. Leading the way individually was Prestyn Ball, who captured a first-place finish at 144 pounds. Matthew Kovicak also turned in a standout performance, earning second place at 132 pounds. Several Lakers reached the podium with third-place finishes, including Noah Sanders at 138 pounds, Trevor Christner at 113 pounds, Reid Wesley at 120 pounds, and Mason Troyer at 175 pounds. Additional point-scoring efforts came from Tristan Wilson (106), Ethan Uganski (126), Carson Deal (157), Tytan Flemming (190), and Taylor Collins (138), all of whom placed fifth or sixth in their respective brackets. Spring Lake’s strong showing against a deep field of teams highlights the program’s continued progress and sets a positive tone moving forward in the season.
